How to record a macro on Windows 11 and 10

Record what you do with the mouse and keyboard, play it back, and fix it as readable steps. Free, with no account needed.

Updated 1 October 2026 · Recording, editing and replay are free on every plan in Myna Recorder.

1. Install and start

Download Myna Recorder and run the installer, or the standalone version from wherever you keep it. When it starts, choose Continue without an account to record straight away.

2. Record

Press Start recording (F2), do the task by hand in any program, and press Stop recording (F3). The keys work from any program, so Recorder does not need to be in front. Settings → Recording chooses what is captured.

3. Play it back

Press Run (F4) to replay it, and Stop (F6) to end a run early from any program. The toolbar sets the speed and how many times it repeats, and Test plays only the steps you select.

A macro sends real input to whatever is in front of it. Know your Stop key before you start.

4. Edit what you recorded

The Recorder tab shows the macro as a list of steps you can reorder, delete and retime. The Script tab shows the same macro as text:

click(412, 230)
type_text("Monthly report")
press("enter")

Change a word, a number or a wait and the other tab follows. Loops, conditions and variables are written here too.

5. Make it survive a moved window

A recorded click goes to the same spot on the screen every time. If the window moves, it lands on something else. Replace the clicks that matter with clicks on an image, and the macro finds the button wherever it is.

6. Save, schedule and share

  • Save the macro from the File menu and open it again any time.
  • The Scheduler runs it at a set time, once or on repeat (Basic and Pro).
  • Export as Program turns it into one .exe that runs on any Windows PC (Basic and Pro).
  • On Pro, the assistant writes a macro from a description in your own words.
