How to get an alert when something appears on the screen
A monitor watches the screen for a picture and tells you by popup, Telegram or Discord, with a screenshot.
Updated 1 October 2026 · Monitors, Telegram and Discord are part of the Basic and Pro plans in Myna Recorder.
1. What a monitor is
A monitor is a row on the Monitors tab: what to look for, where, how often, and what to do when it is found. Typical uses: an export or render finished dialog, an error message, a "session expired" banner, or a "connected" status that disappears.
2. Watch for a picture
- Capture the thing to watch for with the row Crop button, or pick an image you already have.
- Choose where to look: anywhere, or a part of the screen you pick.
- Under FIRE WHEN, choose Appears or Goes away.
- Under CHECK EVERY, set how often to look, in seconds.
A row fires when the picture arrives or leaves, not again and again while it stays, so one dialog sends one message. Goes away only fires for something it has seen first, which makes it a good alarm for a status badge that should always be there.
3. What happens when it fires
- Popup shows a desktop notification.
- Telegram and Discord send a message, with a picture of the screen when Screenshot is on.
- Stop macro ends the macro that is running.
- Run plays a saved script: it pauses whatever is running, plays the script, then carries on from where it stopped.
4. Messages to your phone
Telegram and Discord are set up once, in Settings → Notifications: a Telegram bot and chat, or a Discord webhook. From Telegram, or from Discord through a bot you create, you can also start, pause and stop runs and ask for a picture of the screen.
5. When it watches
Monitors run alongside a macro or the clicker, or on their own: open the Monitors tab and press Run. Recorder has to be open while it watches.
6. Ask the AI instead
For something no single picture shows, a row can ask the AI a question about part of the screen instead, such as "is there an error dialog?". Each check costs credits, so an AI row checks once a minute unless you set otherwise, and never more than once a second. Asking the AI is part of Pro.
7. Plans
- Monitors and the Telegram and Discord messages are part of Basic and Pro.
- Watching for a picture costs no credits. AI questions are part of Pro and use credits.
- To act on what a picture shows inside a macro, see how to click on an image.
