How to create your own hotkeys on Windows

Pick the keys with a click, choose what they do, and keep every hotkey in view in a small box at the side of the screen.

Updated 1 October 2026 · Hotkeys are part of the Basic and Pro plans in Myna Recorder.

1. Add a hotkey

  1. Open the Hotkeys tab and press Add hotkey.
  2. Click the key box and press the combination.
  3. Choose what it does: open a program or a file, open a website, play a saved macro, or show the clipboard list.
  4. Give it a name and save it. Try it runs it once without pressing the keys.

A program can be a full path or a name Windows already knows, such as notepad or chrome, with arguments if it needs them. A website needs only its address. The hotkeys work in any program while Recorder is open.

2. Any keys, in any order

A hotkey can be Ctrl+Alt+N, a single F9, or several keys held together in the order you press them: Ctrl+C+G and G+Ctrl+C are two different hotkeys.

A hotkey takes its keys away from the program in front, so a plain letter stops typing that letter while Recorder is open. Recorder says so when a choice is risky and leaves the decision to you. It refuses only what cannot work, such as combinations Windows keeps for itself or keys Recorder already uses.

3. See them all on screen

Press Live, beside Settings, and the Hotkeys box lists every hotkey with its keys, what it does and whether it is ready, and lights up the one you just pressed. The button in the box header floats it in a window of its own, on top of your other windows, at the side of the screen. It stays there when you go back to the full window.

4. Hotkeys that play a macro

A hotkey can play a saved macro, once or several times. It works only while your Stop key does, so whatever a hotkey starts, F6 can end from any program.

5. Paste saved text with a key

Text you paste often, such as an address or a signature, can have a hotkey of its own that pastes it into whatever program you are in. That is set on the Clipboard tab: see the clipboard with hotkeys.

6. Plans

  • Your own hotkeys are part of Basic and Pro, and every new account tries them free for 7 days.
  • The keys for recording, Run, Pause and Stop are on every plan, in Settings → Hotkeys.
